Crushing Defeat! Nepalese Canadian-A Demolishes DesertStorm X in MCLT25
In a Division 1 encounter of the MCLT25 league on June 12, 2024, DesertStorm X opted to bat first after winning the toss against Nepalese Canadian-A. However, their innings proved to be a struggle right from the outset. DesertStorm X could only muster 63 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in their allotted 25 overs. The batting effort was marked by a lack of substantial partnerships and frequent dismissals, with Jaspal Singh Dulai top-scoring with 13 not out, followed by Ishan Dogra’s gritty 12 runs. Mahesh Chhetri and Nabin Gurung were the standout bowlers for Nepalese Canadian-A, wreaking havoc with four wickets and three wickets respectively, while Sujan Bohora and Bharat Oli chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
Facing a revised target of 64 runs in 20 overs due to interruptions and the Duckworth-Lewis method, Nepalese Canadian-A approached their chase confidently. They quickly gained momentum, reaching the target in just 8.1 overs with the loss of only one wicket. Ankur Kunder provided a quick start with 21 runs, while Mihir Patel anchored the innings with an unbeaten 32 off 26 balls, featuring three boundaries and a six. Karan Arora supported Patel with a quickfire 4 not out to seal the victory with plenty of overs to spare.
Nepalese Canadian-A’s bowlers set up the win by restricting DesertStorm X to a modest total, and their batsmen executed the chase efficiently, capitalizing on the revised target. Bharat Oli‘s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award for his crucial contributions with both fielding and ball, underscoring Nepalese Canadian-A’s dominance in the contest.
